Workshop Description:
The use of the 1013/2013, while not uncommon, can be daunting and confusing. Many clinicians who utilize the 1013 may not be aware of the involuntary mental healthcare system that a 1013/2013 is a part of. This workshop will review the systemic, procedural, and ethical considerations that should be made prior to signing this order and the protocols to utilize the form. This workshop will also review applicable ACA and AAMFT Code of Ethics and provide opportunity for discussion and practice of ethical decision making.
Workshop Objectives:
- Describe the State of Georgia’s process of involuntary mental health treatment and how the 1013/2013 fits into this process.
- Demonstrate appropriate understanding and use of the 1013/2013.
- Identify and apply procedural and ethical considerations in the use of the 1013/2013.
- Review the process of ethical decision making, review additionally relevant ACA and AAMFT Ethical standards and apply them to ethical decision making.
